Another Alternate Beatles Timeline
Towards the end of the Get Back sessions, the idea of a "Grand Return to the Stage" had been transformed into performing in the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival festival later that year. This free time provided them to make a whole new album, Abbey Road, and simply have "fun" in that show. In fact, the show went so well, unlike in our timeline, The Beatles had stayed together longer. Released in December of 1969, this album finishes of the grand 60s with one last show aimed towards peace and love. This... is Earth-121969

After Abbey Road, The Beatles had planned to release their next album, Hot As Sun, and album that excludes it's title track (the title track would go unreleased for several years). However, by this time, Phil Spector had completed a mix of their album containing songs from the Get Back sessions entitled "Let It Be". Thus, The Beatles took the bold move of releasing the two albums back to back for fans to pick and choose the type of music they wanted, Rock and Roll or Lo-fi. This new direction the band took was controversial at the time but in modern times, it is enjoyed by many.

Although the band went on longer than in our timeline, a breakup was inevitable. The group simply was what it used to be and in the tail end of 1970, the Beatles decided to make one last album before exploring their solo careers. The result of their final studio sessions was "Ram". Another Lo-fi album much like Hot As Sun, this album is notable for hits such as Back Seat Of My Car, Uncle Albert, and of course, Imagine. After this release, the Beatles would further split into 2 different groups...

After the breakup of the Beatles, John Lennon and George Harrison along with Klaus Voormann and Alan White formed The Ladders whilst Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr along with Denny Laine formed Paul McCartney's Beatles. Although there was some dispute amogst the two bands due to the name, Paul ended up using The Beatles' name under the conditions that it will be slightly altered. The first album by PMB was destroyed by the critics as the album seemed rushed to cash in on The Beatles' breakup.

After the Beatles breakup, John and George brought in Klaus Voormann on bass and Alan White on drums to form The Ladders. To counter the polished nature of Paul McCartney's Beatles, The Ladders decided to show the grittier side of their music. They did this by releasing a music of political songs in a paper sleeve with no album cover. The labels themselves were simply typed on a typewriter as if it was a demo label. The album even came out as a double LP with the second disc being a partial recording of the jam session named "Apple Jam". Despite this effort, just like Wild Life, critics panned it.

To combat the critics who absolutely panned their last album, PMB mader Red Rose Speedway and wished for success. And success they got with the songs My Love and Back Off Boogaloo, they were back in the spotlight.

Coming back to the spotlight were The Ladders, which after the failure of their last album, much like PMB, rose back into the charts with the album "Mind Games". This albums included such hits as Mind Games and Give Me Love but it also included light jabs at Paul with the song about their previous lawsuit over the band name, Sue Me, Sue You Blues.

The rivalry between the two bands eventually led to the 1973 masterpiece, Band On The Run by PMB. This is easily the most well known album by PMB and for good reason. Being the second album released in 1973, this album has an even more polished feel than the last album, Red Rose Speedway. During the making of the album, there were discussions about letting Linda be a more core part of the group. This would eventually lead to her collaboration in future albums.

The battles both George and John were going through at the time were hard and complicated. Which makes this album even existing in the first place a miracle. There are strong songs on this album by John such as Whatever Gets You Thru The Night and Nobody Loves You, however George's contributions are very weak due to the laringitis he was suffering from at this time. Nevertheless the lead single from this album, Whatever Gets You Thru The Night hit number 1 in the US as a collaboration between The Ladders and Elton John

1975, with the making of their new album, PMB decided to make other members more involved in the albums. This resulted in the other members getting songwriting and vocal spots on the album. All was looking good for Beatles fans as even the tension between The Ladders and PMB had now subsided. Even John and George wrote songs for Ringo to sing on this album.

When The Beatles' classic Abbey Road was made, there was a lawsuit against the song Come Together due to its lyrical similarities to Chuck Berry's You Can't Catch Me. The lawsuit ended with a deal that John Lennon had to cover one their label's songs. This resulted in The Ladders 1975 studio album, Rock 'N' Roll. At first, George wasn't on board with the idea. However, with assurance that he could cover any song he wanted, he happily contributed to the project with covers ranging from Bob Dylan to even the Beatles original, Get Back

The Rock N Roll sessions would be the last ever Ladders session as John Lennon would take a break from the music industry to focus on his family. This left George Harrison bandless. George, who has been described by his closest friends as a person who belongs in a band and loved to be in a band, naturally joined Paul McCartney's band. This gave the band PMB a whopping 6 members with all of them writing and singing for the album. All this contribution would eventually lead to the most democratic album by PMB, At The Speed Of Sound released in 1976.

After the succes the band gained after George Harrison joined the band, Paul McCartney's Beatles decided to go on a tour of America. The tour was very successful and was soon released on vinyl. The 3 LP deluxe experience the album provided was the only PMB album released in 1977. The film made during the tour was later released as a movie entitled "Rock Show" in the 80s.

After the success of their last album, PMB came back 2 years later aiming for another hit. The same members contributed to this project, Paul on bass, Linda on keyboards, Ringo on drums, Denny on guitar, George on guitar, and Jimmy on guitars and bass. George was finally showing his talent as a songwriter again on this album. However, there was one slight problem. Due to their high member count, apart from Paul, each member could only contribute 1 or 2 songs. This led to a lot of the members' songs being left off the album despite it's democracy. This would lead to this album having no songs by Jimmy. After this album, Jimmy McCulloch left the band giving more space for the other members to contribute, especially George and Denny.

After the Jimmy's departure from the band, and lack of Linda's contributions, the rest of the band, especially George got to contribute quite a bit for this record with the songs they couldn't fit on the last record. Despite its great songs and even a TV special, the album got negative reviews upon release. Nevertheless, it is still considered a classic among fans.

Even after Lennon's departure from music, he still wrote and recorded new songs. all this buildup of new material would eventually lead up to John phoning up Paul again in 1980 to record a new album and "do it all over again". The band dropped the name "Paul McCartney's Beatles" and brought back their old name. This new return was highly praised by the public. Paul, in fact, had so much music during this time that he release a solo album around the same time entitled "Paul McCartney Goes Too Far", a name suggested by Lennon. That album however, failed with the critics stating that McCartney had "finally lost it".

John Lennon had been shot on December of 1980 shortly after their last album's release. There was no way to go around that. As a final tribute to John, the band gathered up John's songs from the Back Again sessions to make a new album. As a little nod to their second US album, the group created "Everyday Chemistry". The album itself had a unique concept where each side was represented by one beatle. This double record set (the first since The White Album) soon began to climb the charts upon release with critics claiming it was "The best thing they've done since Ram!"

After John's dead and the release of 1982's Everyday Chemistry, it was believed that The Beatles as a band were done. After years of silence from the group and the release of Ringo's Old Wave, McCartney's Pipes of Peace and Give My Regards To Broad Street, and Harrison's Gone Troppo, the rumours were set in stone. However the group would break their silence in 1987 with the release of their new album, From Liverpool, rightfully released under the name Paul McCartney's Beatles. Being filled with classics and hits, this album is now considered one of the last great albums by The Beatles or by PMB.

The success of their comeback was prominent. It was so prominent in fact, George decided it would be a great idea to gather up all his friends and make a supergroup together. They would be named "The Traveling Wilburys" and each member would have a unique alias. Paul would be Holly Wilbury, George would be Nelson Wilbury, Ringo would be Richard Wilbury, Jeff Lynne would be Otis Wilbury, Roy Orbison would be Lefty Wilbury, Tom Petty would be Charlie T. Wilbury Jr., and Bob Dylan would be Lucky Wilbury. The first album entitled "Volume 1" would be a huge success with the album reaching to top 3 in most countries.

Not long after the release of their one and only album, one of the members of the group, Roy Orbison would sadly pass away, making it difficult for the other members to continue on with the project. Although most of the members went separate ways, PMB and Jeff Lynne would still collaborate. The result of this further collaboration between the four would be their 1990 album, Time Takes Time. This album would not reach the successes of the previous two albums, however it would still remain a cult classic. During the promotion for this record, George Harrison was asked about the name "Paul McCartney's Beatles" and if it bothered him, to which he responded, "I guess it could seem a bit egotistical. But [y'know] it was his idea from the start if you go back to the early 70s, and I joined after. I think it's great I can still be a part of a band with Paul and Ringo while not directly using the name "Beatles""

In 1991, Paul McCartney's Beatles performed on the then new MTV Unplugged. During its lifetime, the show would see performances from names such as Eric Clapton, Nirvana, and Oasis, so it was no wonder that Paul McCartney's Beatles were amongst the group that would perform. Linda McCartney would temporarily rejoin the group as a keyboardist and backing vocalist. She had performed live recently on Paul McCartney's solo Get Back shows, and she would only rejoin the group for a brief period as a touring member. This would be the first performance by the group since 1979 and it would be the starting point for the band's tour of of the world 2 years later.

After the success of the Unplugged show 2 years prior, PMB decided to embark on a world tour, likes of which had not been seen from the group since their tour days in the 60s. Although they did perform some shows in the mid to late 70s, this was the first time in over 20 years that a world tour of this magnitude was performed. Travelling all across the world from Europe to America to Asia, and more, the band were on top of the world. Just after the world saw a change in music with grunge, but just before the takeover of britpop, Paul McCartney's Beatles took centre stage as the biggest group in the world.

The Beatles were silent for the early 90s after the release of Time Takes Time. After the release of another one of Paul's solo albums in 1993, a big news dropped. The Anthology project was revived as a TV special, and a series of albums full of rare demos and alternative takes. To go along with this special, the remaining Beatles used three John demos that Yoko had given them, and created a new Beatles album full of love, nostalgia, and memories. This new album, simply called "Beatles" was to be released at the end of the Anthology series in 1997. Being the first proper Beatles release since 1982, the fans were excited, and the album got very positive reviews.

In 2000, another big Beatles release dropped. The compilation "1" made up of all their number 1 singles became the best selling album of that decade. During the mist of this new beatlemania, tragedy struck as the news of George's death spread across the world. In 2002, Paul and Ringo collaborated once again with Jeff Lynne to make one last album with George, just like John. The resulting album, Brainwashed, was full of potential hits and catchy melody, and the final trilogy of songs was a fitting send off to George's career.

Due to George's death in 2001, Paul McCartney's Beatles had now practically become a touring act, with no sign of an album on the way. The most interesting aspect of these touring years would be the band performing on the grounds of Shea Stadium (now Citi Field Stadium) opening for Billy Joel. this live album would be released both as a 2CD set and a 2CD and DVD set for the public. Shortly after this albums release, the fans would experience the return of the bands' musical career...

After the untimely passing of George, PMB went on, but only performed live. Some theorized that the band were simply busy touring, while others thought they couldn't possibly make another studio album without George. So it came as a shock when the Paul McCartney's Beatles announced their new album in 11 years, Singularity. Although critically acclaimed, some critics saw this as a "Paul solo album with contributions from Ringo." Nevertheless, the new PMB album was filled with catchy tunes and memorable lyrics.

In 2018, PMB got together with pop producer, Greg Kurtstin to make a new album. The resulting album hit number 1 in the charts and was a success. However, some critics did not enjoy this pop direction the band headed on the album and even compared the group to Imagine Dragons. This album was one of the most promoted PMB album and the promotion paid off as non-Beatles fans around the world got to experience a whole new album for the first time.

The Paul McCartney's Beatles now seemed to have a pattern of releasing a studio album every few years with long touring periods in between. However, this plan was soon cut short due to the 2020 Covid pandemic. PMB, now forced to stay in doors, record a new album. Paul, in his studio, and Ringo in his, they record a brand new PMB record. Unlike Egypt Station, this album would see the group go back to their roots and make a more simplistic rock album. Although not as popular to the general public, Home was soon loved by fans of the group.
